Announcing our 2026 Election Candidates

We are delighted to announce that fifteen members have put themselves forward for election to the DFC’s Board of Trustess.

It is our absolute pleasure to announce the candidate list for the 2026 elections to the DFC Board of Trustees. Fifteen DFC members have stood for the three seats available, which is another fantastic indicator of the rude health of our democracy and a massive endorsement of the DFC’s mission.

To all those who put their names forward, and on behalf of the DFC’s membership, trustees and all the other organisations and individuals involved in bringing the DFC into being, we extend our sincerest thanks. Regardless of the outcome of the election, each and every one of the candidates deserves a huge amount of respect for offering to put their shoulder to the wheel and represent the UK’s documentary community. We salute you.

Remember, only full DFC Members are eligible to vote. If you are currently registered as an Ally, you must upgrade to Member by midnight on May 11 in order to participate in the election. This is also the date for new Members to join, so please help spread the word about the election, celebrate our candidates, and encourage everyone who should be a member of the DFC but hasn’t joined yet to hurry up and do so by May 11. This is your chance to elect your representatives – don’t miss it.

Voting will open for two weeks from May 14, with the results announced on June 1. Like last time, we’ll be using an external election agency and a ranked choice system (often described as Single Transferable Vote in the UK or Ranked Choice Voting in the US). When voting opens, every member of the DFC eligible to vote will be emailed a unique code and link enabling them to cast their ballot. We’ll circulate more details about this before the vote opens.

It’s really important that we showcase the size of the independent documentary community in the UK so please complete your profile as soon as possible – you will be in good company!
