Virginia Heath writes and directs both documentary and drama films including the acclaimed, BAFTA nominated, feature documentary From Scotland With Love and Berlinale award winning drama, Relativity.  Virginia’s film ‘Cigar Box Blues – The Makers of a Revolution’ screened on BBC4 (2022) and film festivals Woodstock, Nashville, Albuquerque (Honourable Mention).  Her current documentary project is Scotland/Ireland/Germany co-production, She Sings of Murder and Love.

 

Her award-winning drama Lift Share premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2018 and won ‘Best Drama Short’, Copenhagen Film Festival (2019).  In 2014 she directed BAFTA nominated From Scotland With Love (75’); BBC, Edinburgh International Festival, Vancouver, Chicago.  Virginia’s directorial vision focuses on sexuality, gender and marginalised voices from her documentary, Songs From The Golden City (Channel 4), about black South African jazz legends fighting for justice, to My Dangerous Loverboy about sexual exploitation of teenagers (National Film Board of Canada/Sheffield Doc/Fest Award 2009).
