Spring is in the air and DFC’s 2026 election process begins today with the release of our ‘Stand for Election’ form.
The DFC’s Board is the first elected group of representatives in the history of British documentary. Serving on the board is a fantastic way of supporting our sector and serving the documentary community, so if you’re interested, read on to find out more. And remember, only full DFC Members get to stand and/or vote in the election, so make sure your membership is up-to-date and on the Member tier.
If you’re not yet a member, now’s the time to join us!
As a co-operative, the DFC is run by an elected Board of Trustees comprised of DFC members. Having an elected board ensures that the DFC is run by and for its members, and is accountable to the community it represents. Serving on the board is a fantastic way to support the documentary community and work with colleagues across the industry to build a vibrant future for the field.
All the information about our 2026 election is available in our Election Pack HERE, including the ‘Stand for Election’ form for those interested in becoming trustees. Trustees usually serve a minimum of one year and can remain on the board for a maximum of three years (before standing for re-election if they wish). Full training will be provided by Co-operatives UK, so no prior board experience is necessary. For the 2026 election, three seats on the board are available.
The deadline to submit the ‘Stand for Election’ form is 23:59 GMT on Friday 17 April 2026. Please see more details of our 2026 election timeline below.
