Alison Rooper
I’ve made documentaries all my life starting at Granada TV where I researched historical documentaries including the award-winning End of Empire: Palestine and Apartheid. I directed films for Channel 4 and BBC Current Affairs (including the first film to expose Africa’s HIV/Aids crisis) before running several other BBC documentary series.
After founding In Focus Productions, I executive produced the award winning Storyville:War Feels Like War, and BBC’s Massacre in Luxor and The Headmaster and the Headscarves along with short and long form films for organisations and British and overseas TV including over 50 episodes of NHK’s Direct Talk. Amongst my director credits are the Emmy-nominated Doping for Gold (PBS/Five) which told the story of the German athletes doped by the East German state. I’m currently seeking funding to complete a feature documentary about a trans family: A Dance of Identity.
