Jill Daniels

Born in Manchester, Britain, Jill Daniels has been making documentary and fiction films since 1989. She was a founding member of Independent Filmmakers Association and is a member of Radical Film Network. Her innovative documentary essay films explore memory, place, Jewish identity and autobiography. She is co-chair of the Journal of Media Practice and Education. She has won many international film festival awards, including best experimental film award for My Private Life II, a film about sexual identity in her Jewish family at the Ann Arbor Experimental Film Festival in the USA. In Resisters she explored the rise of the nationalist AfD and the fight against it by the organisation, Grandmothers Against the Right in Berlin. Her writing includes the co-edited book Truth, Dare or Promise: Art and Documentary Revisited and Memory, Place and Autobiography: Experiments in Documentary Filmmaking. She teaches Film at University of East London.
