SALLY PEARCE graduated from the National Film and TV School, UK, with an Animation Direction MA in 2006. Before this, after leaving Cambridge University with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, she trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS in N. Wales. She started making films whilst taking a part time Fine Art Degree at Sheffield Hallam University. Her NFTS graduation film, ‘ELEPHANTS’, a children’s fiction, screened at over 100 Festivals, for instance, Annecy, Shanghai, Uppsala, Chicago, St Louis, London, and won multiple awards including a BAFTA. Since leaving the NFTS her interest in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone took her practice into documentary. Sally has been making long form mixed media project ‘Chernobyl Journey’ since 2009. Sally started a PhD by Practice at Wolverhampton University in 2018, specialising in women’s self-reflexive animation. Now in her final year, she has delivered multiple conference papers and has two article publications.
