Sue Sudbury

(she/her)
Director, Executive Producer

For the past 20 years, I combined a career as an academic at Bournemouth University with documentary filmmaking. My first feature documentary Indian Space Dreams was long-listed for the 2021 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and won the Royal Television Society Award for Best Single Documentary 2020. Indian Space Dreams won six other international awards and sold to 98 countries, through TVF International. Before entering academia, I produced and directed award-winning series and singles for Channel 4, the BBC, ITV and Al Jazeera. I established participatory film practice research at Bournemouth and supervised four doctoral students to completion. I’m passionate about the EDI agenda and led the first department team at Bournemouth to secure Athena SWAN status and organised the first neurodiversity celebration event for staff, students and alumni. I have recently left Bournemouth, been appointed a Professor Emerita and currently in production with a documentary for Al Jazeera.
