Trevor Hearing began his career as a camera operator at Tyne Tees TV in 1980 before becoming a researcher, film researcher, producer, director, writer, series producer and executive producer making programmes for Tyne Tees TV, Border TV, Yorkshire TV, BBC North and Channel 4. In 2001 he became a Principal Lecturer at the University of Sunderland leading the TV and Video department before moving to Bournemouth University to set up the postgraduate framework of media production courses and teaching television production until 2024. He is now shooting and editing documentary films in Dorset.
